FOREWORD FROM THE EDITOR GAELIC SPORTS WORLD PUBLISHER: There is great excitement amongst teams from around the GAA globe as just under two weeks’ time the inaugural GAA World Games get underway in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is an especially important event for the many Gaelic Sports enthusiasts worldwide as it puts the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) based in Ireland, on something of a global footing as it takes the first steps to a bona fide and major World Cup sporting event. There will be 24 teams from around the globe descending on the city of Abu Dhabi to compete over two days March 6-7th for both the GAA World Cup and GAA International Cup in Gaelic Football. Irish emigrant teams will get a chance to call themselves World Champions as will those non-Irish who have fallen in love with Gaelic Sports and who have been preparing long and hard for this event. Indeed, for many players it is a chance to see the world and for those attending and watching from Ireland a chance to see Gaelic Sports through a new ‘world’ spectrum.
