FOREWORD FROM THE EDITOR
GAELIC SPORTS WORLD
PUBLISHER:
In order that an organization thrives it is
crucial that structures are in place that
will sustain the entity into the
future. Without solid design things
usually break apart sooner rather than
later.
The Ottawa Gaels who celebrate their
40th anniversary this year are a thriving
GAA club in Eastern Canada because
they have recognized that in order to
survive you need to think ahead.
The Gaels have built a successful
medal legacy on the field over the years
but this mostly all Canadian player club
looked at Irish immigration highs and
lows and felt that such a sole design
was doomed for failure.
Key to planning was to make sure the
club would be able to keep going into
the future and in this 19th edition of
Gaelic Sports World we explore how the
Ottawa Gaels approached sustainability.
We also are delighted to introduce
another new monthly column from
Exercise Physiologist and Sports
Science Academic, Hannah Oguz,
on the topic of Physical Fitness and
Gaelic Sports.
