Cork. Limerick toughed it out against
Tipp while reigning All Ireland champions Clare looked lethargic in the semifinal against Cork. Clare didn’t look the
same team that deservedly beat Cork
in the 2013 All Ireland replay. Cork, to
give them credit, did well when beating a wasted-goal-scoring Limerick in
the Munster Final. The Rebels, though
flashy upfront, hadn’t really improved
their team from the previous year, especially their defense, and so the victory in Munster wasn’t what it seemed.
LEINSTER
In Leinster, a new preliminary five
team round-robin saw Antrim and
Laois win through to the quarter final
stage. Laois did very well when going
down to Galway by just two points.
Galway got the goal that Laois couldn’t
achieve. Antrim after a good early
campaign disappointed when Wexford
showing signs of promise, shot five
goals to see them through to meet Dublin. The defeated team without goals
once again. Dublin showed that a high
points average can win games despite
the lack of goals against Wexford with
keeper Alan Nolan making a difference
and full forward Conal Keaney with 0-5
from play - the margin of victory for
the Dubs. After looking sharp against
a very poor Offaly, Kilkenny looked
impressive again until the final passages against Galway only to surrender
