WOMEN’S 15-A-SIDE FOOTBALL Alana Brown and Michelle O’Brien have led from the front as per usual. Big moment to date was their Round 7 spanking of the Blues. Third place Na Fianna - the warrior women - continue to dramatically improve. Despite the loss of Zoe Tully through injury, the green and blacks appear to have the most consistent player numbers of any side. This will prove handy come finals. Highlight: Increased offensive potency where Round 8 saw them notch up 10-24. The Western Ireland ladies move the ball better than anyone between half forward and half back lines but still have a tendency to break down in crucial games. They are missing the leadership of Tess Baxter and will be lucky to make the top four. A highlight was their one point loss in a thriller to Onkas in Round 4. Meanwhile Flinders O’Neill’s , after setting a high standard last season, have had a poor start to the season but are now back in contention. The addition of Lauren Saunders has strengthened the squad. They had a massive win against Na Fianna in Round 5. New side the Morrigans joined the competition this season. The team had a baptism of fire in the first few rounds but continue to persevere under the guidance of Jules Smith. Their highlight so far was their first win in the SA League in Round 5 when they clocked up 2-6 to beat Morrigans on a historic day. Bottom of the table, Irish Aus- 28 tralian Rovers are winless pre-Christmas. Stacey Richardson continues to shine with support from Chelsea Hocking. Ex State President, Lee Hayes still mixes
