FOREWORD FROM THE EDITOR
There is no perfect way to start anything.
Usually some sort of a plan of action is
deemed basic but that plan often changes
overtime. Whatever about how one starts
things one thing remains constant and that
is one has to actually start.
The Gaelic Players Association (GPA) which
looks out for the needs of Gaelic Sports
members in Ireland, started an initiative, a
modified version of the game of Hurling, a
number of years ago and recently at Fenway
Park in Boston, this hybrid labelled Super
11’s Hurling, saw an exhibition game draw a
crowd of some 27,000 people.
It was the single largest attendance for
a GAA or hurling game since the 1947 All
Ireland played at the Polo Grounds in New
York, and in this Issue 39, we reflect on the
success of the initiative and ask what next
for the game and indeed those in charge of
promoting Gaelic Sports internationally, the
Gaelic Athletic Association of Ireland.
