Dubai Celts were determined to prove their victory early in the day wasn’t a fluke and set the early pace. A more composed Abu Dhabi Team matched them point for the point in the opening exchanges. Dubai upped their game and went on the attack notching up the scores. Dubai sensing victory pressed on and added a couple of insurance scores before the final whistle which brought great relief and huge celebrations by the travelling supporters. Victory put Dubai level on points with Abu Dhabi at the top of the League after 2 Rounds which should ensure fireworks in Sharjah in February. Gaels had a good win over Abu Dhabi Na Fianna. The Cup final was a cracking match with Qatar B dominant in the 1st half but Sharjah Gaels showed their class and experience with a flurry of scores at the start of the 2nd half to edge in front, a position which they kept until the final whistle securing their spot at the top of the league. LADIES INTERMEDIATE MEN’S INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL LEAGUE Sharjah Gaels who were top of the Mens League after Round 1 got off to winning start against Clann na hOman in the opening fixture of the Intermediate League. Qatar B & Naomh Alee Riyadh also chalked up early wins with 2nd placed Dubai C drawing with Abu Dhabi Na Fianna in the opening game. Clann na hOman won their next 2 fixtures to finish 2nd in the Group and qualify for the Cup semi final along with Sharjah Gaels. Qatar B had 100% record and topped the 2nd Group with Abu Dhabi Na Fianna squeezing through on score difference to secure that 2nd final slot. In the Plate competition Dubai C and Naomh Alee qualified for the final after winning their semi final matches and Dubai C had enough in the tank to beat a very gallant Naomh Alee side. In the Cup semi final Qatar B beat a resurgent Clann na hOman by a single point and Sharjah 16 In the Ladies Intermediate competition 1st Round winners Dubai Celts came up against 1st Round runner up Clann na hOman with the Oman side hoping to settle a few scores. An entertaining game that had a feast of goals and kept the crowd on the edge of their seat but Clann nah Oman were more prolific in the point scoring department and had their revenge with a 3-8 to 3-2 victory. Elsewhere both Abu Dhabi sides had 1st Round wins against both Al Ain sides and the host Club the Arabian Celts had a comprehensive win over Qatar B. In a rather bizarre set of results afterwards all teams took points of each other and both Groups ended on a 3 way tie such is the closeness of the sides in this competition.
