Redmi Note 4 smartphones last year,
Xiaomi has launched two new smart-
phones in the Indian market – the
Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro.
The Redmi Note 5 takes off from
the Redmi Note 4 and has received
design, camera and quality upgrades.
It features a 5.99-inch, 18:9 display
with 2160x1080p resolution and Go-
rilla Glass protection It has a premium
metal body, 8.05-mm thickness and
continues to have the same 4,000
mAh battery. There is a 12-MP main
camera with an upgraded sensor that
can capture better low-light images.
The 5-MP front camera features LED
selfie-light and beautify 3.0. However,
it continues to feature the Snapdragon
625 processor and will be available in
two variants – 3 GB RAM + 32 GB stor-
age and 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage.
The former has been priced at `9,999,
and the latter for `11,999.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first
phone to feature Qualcomm Snap-
dragon 636 processor. This processor
is expected to offer up to 50 per cent
higher performance and up to 40 per
cent more power efficiency. It runs Mi
UI 9 based on Android N. It is touted
to be the fastest Redmi Note phone
ever.

Redmi Note 5 Pro is the
first phone to feature
Qualcomm Snapdragon
636 processor
This one too has a 5.99-inch, 18:9 display with tapered rear.
Xiaomi has added a vertical dual camera at the rear with a 5-MP
Samsung sensor + 12-MP Sony IMX 486 sensor for capturing depth
images. Xiaomi has also added a feature for electronic image stabi-
lisation for videos. The company has also used AI-based computing
engine for capturing better portrait selfies with a single camera. It
has a 20-MP Sony IMX 376 sensor with LED selfie-light for low-
light selfies. There is a Face Unlock feature on the Note 5 Pro, which
will be added with an over-the-air update. The phone has a 4,000
mAh battery, is 8.05-mm thick and weighs 181 gms. The Redmi note
5 Pro will be available in two variants – 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage
for `13,999 and 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage for `16,999.
