On behalf of the Executive Board of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police it is my distinct honor to announce that our Executive Director , Frank V . Rotondo , has been selected to receive the prestigious 2017 Governor ' s Public Safety Award . This award recognizes Contribution to Profession or Outstanding Job Performance which serves to enhance the public safety profession .
The Governor ' s Public Safety Awards Program was initiated in 1998 to recognize men and women in the public safety sector for outstanding service to their communities and contributions to their profession .
Frank has had a brilliant career in law enforcement including positions of police officer , major crimes and homicide detective first grade , captain / training director in a sheriff ' s department , parole supervisor and ultimately police chief . Frank became the Executive Director of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police in March of 1996 and from the start he worked diligently to elevate the position of Chief of Police throughout our state . He has promoted law enforcement professionalism through education , training , goal-setting , and benchmarking with professional associations on the local , state , and federal levels . Over the two decades Frank has been in this position he has never let up and the overall positive impact he has had on the role of police chiefs in Georgia has been tremendous .
