taxi vehicle for a period of 10 years. The TLC is seeking
a taxi that is, among other things, environmentally
friendly, accessible to passengers with reduced mobility,
comfortable, and with an iconic design.
Reforming the City’s Bonding Policy
The Division worked on reforms to the City’s bonding
policy, which are intended to ease requirements and
increase opportunities for small and minority-owned
businesses, thereby removing barriers and encouraging
growth. They will also help open up contract opportunities
for these businesses of up to $500 million a year. New York
City requires companies doing business with the City to
obtain performance bonds for all construction projects
greater than $500,000, but smaller contractors often have
dif?culty securing them. The reforms will allow the City’s
