The Administrative Law Division litigates on behalf of the City in challenges related to laws and regulations
that were adopted to promote public health and safety, protect consumers, and enhance the quality of life in
New York City. Attorneys also bring civil actions to obtain compliance with laws and regulations and prosecute
violators of the City’s Administrative laws in the Criminal Court.
Protecting a Landmarked Treasure
Division attorneys obtained a settlement of $1.1 million
in civil penalties from the owners of the landmarked
Windermere Hotel, one of the City’s oldest apartment
buildings, situated in midtown Manhattan. The settlement
was reached after the City and the Landmarks
Preservation Commission ?led a lawsuit in March 2008
