Types of food in the Jungle of Peru
The jungle area of Peru has a wide variety of flora and fauna, so it is common to eat varieties of meats, such as Huangana (Silvestre pig), suri or Tapir. Also for its immense diversity we can find the second largest fish of Agua Dulce (can reach 3 meters and weigh 180 kilos). Therefore the food of the Peruvian jungle consists of a natural dressing. Also consumed varieties of fruits, the high consumer of fruits and the cooking of meats, especially fish and also the Juane, wrapped in a leaf of Bijao, a palm tree that has a particular aroma. With respect to meats, they are usually obtained by hunting and fishing and to a lesser extent by livestock. For example The Juane typical dish from the region of Lambayeque, is made on the basis of rice, meat, olives, hard-boiled egg, spices among others, which is wrapped with bijao leaves and then put to boil for about an hour and a half. Instead of rice, cassava, chonta, the mixture of rice and cassava, beans, among other products. Before being wrapped in the leaves, the preparation is bathed with a mixture of beaten eggs to get the "pickup" of food and not fall off. The dish is accompanied by the customs of each region of the forest, as some people tend to accompany the tacacho, cassava, or simply boiled bananas.
In conclusion some people may say the typical foods of other countries are better than the foods of Peru. They may be right but not one meal has the same diversity and traditions as the typical foods of each region of Peru. So Peruvian food is the best you can eat.
