The Parole Board is working more closely now than ever before with its law enforcement, prosecutors and other criminal justice partners. Recent meetings have been conducted in order to enhance communications and assist local officials.

Executive Director of Parole Chris Barnett has led meetings recently in Savannah with the Chatham County Sheriff's Department, Savannah-Chatham County Metropolitan Police Department, the Savannah District Attorney's Office and the Savannah Mayor's Office.

"The meetings were extremely beneficial," stated Barnett. "Officials in Savannah were receptive to the fact that the Parole Board is here to assist and we want to know from them how we can enhance our operations toward a common goal of a safer Georgia," he added.

"One of the things we can do is provide information on offenders returning from prison to Georgia communities," Barnett says. "We have a law enforcement link on our agency website that allows them to see who is returning, not just on parole but all offenders who are leaving prison."

Law enforcement can find information on returning offenders at http://thelmalou.pap.state.ga.us/pls/web/georgia_sheriffs_web_pkg.entry_form.
