With the success of criminal justice reform, the Parole Board continues to refine its processes ensuring WE are meeting the challenges of a changing criminal justice environment. Our new operational priorities are: Enhancing Operations, Engaging Personnel, Educating Community Stakeholders and Eliciting Active Participation.

We are seeking active participation by our stakeholders in a public parole process. Only together can we achieve safer communities. As a result we can ensure deserving offenders who are not a threat to society are released and violent offenders who prey on society remain in prison. Today, violent offenders are serving longer which is a true reflection of criminal justice reform. As we move forward, protecting crime victims' rights will remain a primary part of our mission. The main objective and benefit of parole is public safety.

The Georgia Parole Board is the nation's leading paroling authority. We are public safety in all we do. Terry Barnard

The National Parole Resource Center (NPRC) is assisting the Parole Board as the agency continues the development of a new strategic plan. Planning sessions have been conducted with the five Board Members and with the agency's senior executive management team. Richard Stroker with the Center for Effective Public Policy provided technical assistance and guidance through the first couple of phases. The Board determined that a new strategic plan was essential after parole supervision transitioned to the Department of Community Supervision (DCS) July 1, 2015. Focus areas during planning sessions have included public and stakeholder education regarding the agency's functions and collaboration with our criminal justice partners including DCS. Georgia's parole board is just one of five nationwide to receive the special technical assistance for strategic planning purposes provided by the NPRC. More meetings between the NPRC and the Board are scheduled this spring. Below are scenes from the strategic planning sessions.
