The Virtual Office which was started as a pilot in 2012, eliminated physical office space, eliminated state leases for buildings and property and placed parole officers full-time in the vehicle. This resulted in increased officer visibility in the communities where the offenders were being supervised.

Offender case supervision in FY15 was conducted effectively as officers utilized the latest technology, including the latest communications technology. The Virtual Office proved successful through the use of Google

Chromebooks and other necessary equipment, supported by the Google Apps for Government Platform.

Supervision of Parolees through Voice Recognition in FY15

The Parole Board's Division of Field Operations effectively utilized voice recognition as a supervision tool in FY15.

Parole Board Receives Excalibur Award

In FY15, the Technology Association of Georgia awarded the prestigious Excalibur Award to the Parole Board for its use of advanced voice recognition technology.

The Board via a public/private partnership with AnyTrax reduced the workload of parole officers and successfully redirected resources in order to maximize focus on higher risk/higher need offenders. AnyTrax Voice Recognition Monitoring allowed the Board to effectively supervise lower risk offenders who have a proven track record of success under regular supervision.

At the end of the FY15, 3,355 parolees (14% of the parole population) were being supervised through the voice recognition system. Ninety-five percent of those parolees successfully completed parole supervision while on AnyTrax during FY15.

Sex Offender Supervision

During FY15, the monthly average of the Parole Sex Offender population was 1,227 offenders. Sex offenders under parole supervision during the fiscal year were supervised at the highest level to include GPS and voice recognition monitoring. Compliance checks were conducted routinely to include monthly property searches, verifying residence requirements, and cross checking the GBI data entered on the Sex Offender Registry for those sex offenders under parole supervision who were required to register.

Parole Officers and Joint Law Enforcement Operations in FY 2015

In FY15, parole staff participated in 389 Joint Law Enforcement Operations statewide. Typically, operations range from warrant service to compliance checks and include various state, federal, and local law enforcement agencies.
