Second Life is an online virtual world developed by Linden Lab and was launched on June 23, 2003 for peole aged 16 and over. Users of this online world are able to explore the virtual world Second Life. Participants of this online world are called "Residents" and they are able to interact with other Residents through self-made avatars. These avatars are the participants gateway to the online world and are able to meet other residents from around the world, socialize, and participate in individual and group activities. Residents are also able to to create and trade virtual property and services with one another.

Secondlife is often used among individuals as a test pilot for small business, and there are individuals who make a substantial income from Secondlife.
