We are home to the oldest cultivated grapevine in the New World.
The Mother Vine on Mother Vineyard Road on Roanoke Island is a massive grape vine covering
about a quarter acre. The grape growing on it is a Scuppernong, one of over 200 kinds of
Muscadine grape.
