About the G20 Summit St. Petersburg The 2013 G20 Summit was held during the Russian presidency on September 5 and 6 in St. Petersburg. In the forefront of the summit, the Russian presidency announced to set a special focus on growth related topics such as growth through quality jobs and investment, growth through trust and transparency and growth through effective regulation. These priorities should be pursued in 8 key areas, like “Framework for strong, sustainable and balanced growth“, “Jobs and employment“, “International financial architecture reform“, “Strengthening financial regulation“, “Energy sustainability“, “Development for all“, “Enhancing multilateral trade“ and “Fighting corruption“. The Russian G20 presidency differed from the previous ones by setting a special focus on including many different parties and Outreach groups in the decision process. Although some Outreach groups were involved in the previous G20 Summits, there was a wider variety and a better interaction among these groups planned to ensure legitimacy, transparency and efficiency. On the following pages, we will analyze key outcomes from the 2013 summit and evaluate how to improve involvement in and how to increase the efficiency of the G20 decision process 1 .                                                                                                                           1 http://en.g20russia.ru/docs/g20_russia/priorities.html 2 See #13, 14, 17, 20 and 22 of the Leaders Declaration 3 See #23-35 of the Leaders Declaration 4 See #19 of the Leaders Declaration
