M

arvette is the oldest of four siblings born to Marvin, Sr. and Willette Wright Hines. She is the proud mother of three adults two sons and a daugther. From that she has been blessed to be Grandma‘ Lady Bug‘ to six beautiful grandchildren.
Marvette is a product of the Chesapeake Public School System. She graduated from Indian River High School. After graduating from high school she furthered her education at Norfolk State University. She holds a BS degree in Behavioral Science from Bluefield College.
She is a fifth generation member of the Historic St James A. M. E. Church, Norfolk, VA where she has actively served in various areas of worship and leadership as a youth. She served in the Music Ministry, YPDer, Womens Missionary Society( WMS), Church School Teacher and as an Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School. She also served as an officer of the Official Board Stewards. She accepted her call into the
Gospel Ministry in 2007. In January 2008 she received her license to preach and was admitted on trial into the Virginia Annual Conference in May 2009. In May 2013 she received her first deaconate ordination at the Western North Carolina Conference by Bishop William P. DeVeaux She served as an Associate Minister at St. Johns AME. Church, Bute Street under the leadership of Rev. John D. Burton. In May 2015, she received her first Pastoral appointment to Mt Gilead, AME Church, Franklin, VA where she currently serves as Pastor. She is planning to complète her Theological studies by 2019. She travels extensively with the church volunteering her service in what every capacity that is needed. She has preached in various denomination thoughout Hampton Roads. Her message is profound and is believer as scriptures states in Phillippians 4: 13-1‘ I Can Do All Things Though Christ that Strengthens Me.‘
She has a passion for people and is known to be a cheerleader for Christ. Cheering and being in the spirit is something that she has had affection for since she was in elementary school. Her grace and favor has taken her into places that are unbelieveable. Because of her humility and dedication to serve she has won the favor of many. Even in her professional development she became a leader in Training state employees for the Department of Social Services, Portsmouth, VA. She has volunteered her time, talent and finances to various causes and have a zeal to help the helpless.
