STAN LEE
Born as Stanley Martin Lieber, Stan Lee, has managed to achieve celebrity status by penning some of the most iconic comic book characters of all time. If you have seen The Avengers, you will remember the seen in which Captain America asks Tony Stark “You're a man in a suit of armor. Take that away and what are you?”, to which Stark gives the witty reply “ A guineas, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.” If you were to ask Stan Lee what he was, well you would end up hearing “Comic book writer, editor, publisher, media producer, television host, actor, voice actor and former president and chairman of Marvel Comics.”
The Creators Achievements:
Brought a revaluation in how Superheros were viewed:
Before, Stan Lee came into the Comic Industry, all superheros were practically invincible. They had no weaknesses, nor did they have any personal problems.
Stan Lee gave these meta-humans social problems. Problems everyone can relate to. This increased the comic audience from just children to late teens.
Helped establish the Comic Code Authority (CCA):
With comics becoming easily accessible to children, The United States Government wanted to establish a screening board for comics.
Lee helped establish the CCA which was an alternative to the proposed Government Board. It would allow the comic creators to self-regulate their comics.
The CCA was eventually discarded by most comic creators, after an era of mutual understandings between the makers.
"The List of his creations is endless. If you have not heard of these characters, you have a lot of research to do, my friend".
