PEPTALK “I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as 'making a life'.” ― Maya Angelou F ourth year standing on the last step of success, reaching out to new heights. Fond memories are evoked, and are followed by fresh emotions and thoughts. And then the question arises..."What if I had someone to guide me through all this, someone who had already gone through the ups and downs of exams and assignments, and faced the battle with the toughest of subjects?" In this column, we bring to you the interviews of some fourth year students of our college, who bring to us their valuable advice and suggestions on how to make the best of our time here. Reading these words will inspire you, but but it doesn't just stop at that. It will make you want to step into their shoes, and will tell you that you are not alone in your journey. And most importantly, it will give you the confidence, that if they could do it, so can you. V.SANJANA SIMHA (ECE 4/4) GNITS is a glorifying torch which held me and made me burn as brightly as possible. The spark was first lit when I was elected to represent my class for 2 yrs. It was when I started playing Basketball and got selected into the team after a constant endeavour for a year and won laurels for the college that I realised the plethora of opportunities GNITS provides. My participation at National Boxing Championship at Raipur, Chhattisgarh added a feather to my hat. Through these activities the college has made me realise that though you may lose your game, you will emerge as a FIGHTER for life. On the academic front I scored 88%. I built a ROBO ARM at IIT-H and presented a paper on “BRAIN COMPUTER INTERFACE”. I was the Vice President for STREET CAUSE-GNITS. I have been working as a volunteer at Ramakrishna Math from 4 yrs. I won District Level Quiz and Elocution Competitions conducted by Election Commission of India for 2 years consecutively and received my voter-id from Election Commissioner, Mr.Bhanwar lal himself. This was possible because of the immense support of our esteemed faculty who taught me that my “I CAN” is more important than my IQ. My inspiration is Swami Vivekananda who preached that “we are the creators of our own destiny” and every woman for her dauntless spirit to prove her mettle. My goal is to become the best Civil Servant of the country and to ensure that every child receives quality education and no farmer commits suicide. I advise my juniors to find out what their PASSION is and what they want to achieve in life as I believe, “A person who looks outside DREAMS but a person who looks inside AWAKENS”.
