The world is on the fringe of a looming boom in Entrepreneurship. Per the Wall street Journal, three out of every four start-ups fail, but there have been several start-ups that made it big unexpectedly over the past few years. Albeit risky, start-ups give you greater responsibility, accountability, transparency and provide a multitude of opportunities for generalists to explore, learn, grow and create a huge impact. There were several entrepreneurial ventures that have flourished and established a firm foothold in the country in recent times. Few of them are: PayTM, Makemytrip and Pinterest.

PayTM

PayTM is an acronym for Pay through Mobile, which is one of the leading e-commerce websites, based in Noida. It has expanded at a smooth pace by its phase by phase market acquisition approach. The website started by offering mobile recharge, online bill payments and in 2014, the company launched a PayTM wallet, which became India’ s largest mobile payment service platform with over 150 million wallets and in a short span of time PayTM has scaled to 75 million app downloads. The usage of the app has escalated because of the recent demonetization of the 500 and 1000 rupee notes. It is a company focused to move forward and has an open culture where every employee is a handson contributor and feels comfortable sharing ideas and opinions.

Makemytrip Inc.

Makemytrip Inc. is an Indian online travel website founded in 2000 and headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana. This company offers many online travel services including flight tickets, domestic and international holiday packages, hotel reservations, rail and bus tickets etc. It has merged with and acquired several travel planning, hotel reviewing websites and few other travel booking websites, and stands as a pioneer in the online travel market. It all sprouted from the sole aim of empowering the traveller and went on to lead the entire online travel industry in India. Being one of the most data driven companies in the Indian ecosystem, Makemytrip provides an exhilaratingly fast paced work environment coupled with a meticulous focus on accomplishing the tasks.

Pinterest

Pinterest, a web and mobile application company that operates a photo sharing website, was founded in 2010 and has taken the web by storm, reaching astonishing double-digit monthly visitors in less than a year, faster than any other website before it. It provides several themes that interest teenagers, young adults, students and especially women, who make up eighty percent of the subscriber base. Not only does it provide a visual discovery and storefront for a host of topics but also allows companies to create pages aimed at promoting their business online. For aspiring interns or employees, it provides a fun, creative and collaborative work environment with an ambience brimming with creativity and happiness.
