The general sense of the term ' Dress up ' is to dress up in a fancier manner than most formal wear , which might include wearing fine jewelry and clothes which is unnecessary in a college environment . To ' Dress down ' is to wear more casual clothes , something one would wear to a park . And although that might seem like a better option , one should also note that a college is not a place of recreation . In my opinion , the rule of thumb as always should be ' Everything in Moderation ', meaning that while one should take care of the fact that they aren ' t overdressed for their workplace / college , they should also take care that they ' re not under dressed either and wear outfits that are befitting the environment they ' re surrounded by . In the end , one must wear what they ' re comfortable in and what they find most appropriate .

“ I don ’ t know what to wear !” that ’ s the only thing that goes on in my mind when I have to decide a dress , be it a wedding or for college , it ’ s like a sartorial minefield . The old theory of dressing up for a formal event or dress down for casual night is long lost . The changing trend every time puts me in a fix ! Now a cute crop top with checked long skirt is the latest office wear . High end brands like Burberry , Chanel , Verawang , Armani and Dior have all decided to update their wardrobes . The new trend says from high heels to sneakers and matching bags to the accessories everything has to blend in setting a new OOTD for the world . Frenzied over Instagram updates and letting followers know what they do every day not only the celebs but every popular high school student updates his or her wardrobe every week to click enough pictures on different styles of dressing . OOTD or ‘ Outfit Of The Day ’ the new hashtag that we ’ ve been seeing from the past few months has an uproar of update every morning . Setting a new trend , office wear and dresses for a wedding all cost the same now . A trend does not last long . It changes faster than a satellite rounding off the earth once . We might just think for fitting in the trend but in the morning the same line pops up amidst the hundreds of outfits around “ I Don ’ t know what to wear !”

Dressing up has more to do with the occasion while dressing down is to be comfortable in casual clothes . Everyone has their own level of perception of what is overboard and what is not in terms of clothing . For some , it ’ s about making a statement while for others it ’ s about the comfort . People at different fields of work need to adhere to some specific dress code and the idea of ‘ dressing up ’ is not much profound . For college students , the choice of clothes depends on several factors and it becomes important that we do not judge people on what they wear . A person ’ s temperament speaks loudly than his / her clothing . It is necessary to wear comfortable clothes as fidgeting with clothes can be awkward and we must see to it that we do not go over the top , which entirely , is futile in an educational institution .

When a girl dresses up people often assume that she is trying to impress somebody , which isn ’ t always true . Dressing up adds confidence to your style . The way you dress defines you . “ Dressing well is a form of good manners ” says Tom Ford . You never know whom you will be meeting so better be at your best because the first impression lasts forever . But girls like me prefer dressing down rather dressing up until and unless there ’ s a good reason to dress up because we don ’ t want to spend much time trying to pick the right outfit every-day . It stresses me out . Or the reason could be they just love being their usual self and doesn ’ t care about what people think . Preferring to be comfortable rather presentable isn ’ t a bad thing . Behaving with propriety can just do wonders even if you aren ’ t dressed with elegance . At the end of the day , you should dress what you want to be dressed in , people ’ s opinion shouldn ’ t concern you because you are your own person .

Dress up and dress down are two ways of depicting one ' s mood affected by the response of that person in a casual attire or a pepped up one . One ' s true response can be a betterment which can be out shown in dressdown where the person is in oblivion about his clothing . Dress up is necessary where there is a compulsion on code . It demands time for extra things not under regular curriculum . People may be comfortable when they are used to a dress code but everyone has their own idea of informal clothing . It just has to put them in peace which people want everyday . Dressing up fills a person with zeal as they do it out of interest or when compelled but at the end of the day everyone runs for their peace of mind .
