The garden also plays host to the Farmers Market and other events that take place throughout the year , including the annual Lady Bug Drop .
A garden bed application or volunteer form can be obtained from the garden at 2109 W . Beech , Duncan .
The Market , located right next to the Garden , is a fresh and unique market stocked with garden and kitchen items , farm to table produce , Amish goods and more .
CHISHOLM TRAIL ARTS COUNCIL
The Chisholm Trail Arts Council ( CTAC ) for over 40 years has celebrated bringing cultural events , arts and education to the Duncan area .
CTAC operates out of their office space and gallery at 810 W . Walnut . The location plays host to many showings , receptions and classes for and by local artists .
The council also hosts Arts Explosion in the summer months , a week of classes for both children , teens and adults which teach a range of the arts in different mediums .
The CTAC Live ! concert series also invites local performers and acts from all over the country take part in this series , usually hosted at The Simmons Center in Duncan .
CTAC took over the concert series from Duncan Community Concerts and renamed it “ CTAC Live ,” and now the series brings diverse acts to Duncan throughout the year .
The council began as the Duncan Arts and Humanities Council in 1976 , with the goal of expanding appreciation of the arts in the Duncan area . It is generally acknowledged as the second community arts council in Oklahoma .
In 2018 , CTAC absorbed the Duncan Art Guild to help continue their mission of getting community to participate in the arts . Their well over 50 years of work can be seen around town . The guild , with the help of CTAC , hosted a holiday show , and usually host a spring show and also the Crapemyrtle art contest in the late summer , among many other events .
The shows highlight local artists , including some from across Oklahoma and surrounding states .
CHISOLM TRAIL MUNICIPAL BAND
The Chisholm Trail Municipal Band
formed in 1976 when the community decided to form a band to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence .
The band is comprised of a group of volunteer musicians of all ages from across Southwest Oklahoma and is directed by Duncan Middle and High Schools ’ band director , Jeramy Haas .
The group usually provides three free concerts at the gazebo in Fuqua Park throughout each summer .
