THANK YOU, MS. TILLIE: A VITAL PARTNERSHIP FOR ARLINGTON’ S FUTURE FIREFIGHTERS

The Arlington Fire Department is proud to partner with Mission Arlington, Ms. Tillie Burgin, and her grandson, Clark Burgin. Through their generosity, Mission Arlington has donated the use of a 110,000-squarefoot warehouse, allowing us to establish our Candidate Physical Ability Test( CPAT) site.
Thanks to an agreement with the International Association of Fire Fighters( IAFF), the International Association of Fire Chiefs( IAFC), and in partnership with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission( EEOC), CPAT is recognized nationally as the gold standard for physical fitness testing for firefighter candidates. As part of the program, candidates must complete an orientation and successfully pass a timed series of eight events, all of which simulate the demanding physical tasks performed on the fire ground. Establishing a CPAT site is a complex process, requiring precise measurements and protection from inclement weather. Without the invaluable support of Mission Arlington, the Arlington Fire Department would not have been able to successfully test the 247 candidates who participated last year.
Thank you, Ms. Tillie and Clark.
