MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS – APD BHLEU
AFD continues to work alongside the Arlington Police Department’ s Behavioral Health Law Enforcement Unit( BHLEU) to address both public and internal mental health needs. This partnership not only helps identify community mental health trends, but also supports the mental wellness of our own firefighters and first responders.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING – TARRANT COUNTY COLLEGE
AFD’ s long-standing relationship with Tarrant County College provides critical access to Basic AEMT Certification and numerous other advanced training courses. These programs play an essential role in maintaining a highly skilled and prepared workforce.
AFD, Pantego, and AMR— a strong partnership in action.
INVESTING IN THE NEXT GENERATION – ARLINGTON INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Our partnership with Arlington ISD reflects a long-term investment in the future of the fire service. Currently, 21 high school juniors and seniors are participating in a hands-on training program that includes over 1,000 classroom and drill field hours. Upon graduation, these students have the opportunity to test for both the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Certification and EMT-Basic National Registry, positioning them to immediately enter the Fire and EMS profession.
The AISD program has conducted 12 classes, serving a total of 266 students.
