Winter Storm Recovery Included Billing Credits
Following the February 2021 winter storm, Arlington Water Utilities made billing changes to help customers who may have experienced higher than their average water usage due to plumbing, fire suppression or irrigation line breaks to their homes or businesses or dripping faucets to prevent freezing pipes.
In the months after the storm, the City of Arlington provided Winter Storm Recovery
Credits on the bills of about 50,000 eligible customers, totaling over $ 1.5 million.
Making Water Affordable
Arlington’ s budget for fiscal year 2022 increases the average residential water and sewer bill by about $ 1.84 a month, or about 6 cents a day. Even with the rate increase, Arlington’ s rates for water remain the lowest when compared to many North Texas cities.

Internships Grow
A partnership between Arlington Water Utilities, ACH Child and Family Services, and Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County began in 2021 as a way to assist young adults who were aging out of the foster care system gain professional certifications and relevant job experience. Since then, it has evolved to help an even wider range of young people and adults seeking new opportunities to

Promoting Water Wisdom
Arlington Water Utilities encourages conservation awareness throughout the year by holding water efficient landscape classes, attending community events, and working with schools on projects such as our Value of Water Mini- Poster Contest in September. Find out more at SaveArlingtonWater. com.

find stable employment. In 2021, these interns contributed more than 7,648 hours of work to city services. Since wages for the internships are provided by Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County, that translates into a savings of $ 107,778 in labor costs.
So far, six of the 13 interns who completed the internship have gone on to join the City of Arlington team.
