Regional Cooperation
In October and November 2017, the Arlington Fire Department’s
EOD Team was contacted by the McLennan County Bomb Squad for
K9 support on multiple dates in response to the trial of Jake
Carrizal, leader of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club, who was charged
in connection with a shootout involving multiple motorcycle clubs
that left nine people dead in May 2015. As needed by the McLennan
County Bomb Squad, one or two AFD EOD K9 teams reported to the
McLennan County Courthouse for preliminary trial hearings, and for
the trial itself, sweeping the entire courthouse, courthouse grounds,
and adjacent parking lots for explosive devices and remained on
scene in standby capacity for the duration of the hearings for any
K9 support needs.
In December 2017, the FBI, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
EOD Unit, and McClennan County requested assistance of
AFD’s EOD team for a call involving foreign military
munitions. An individual found on his property deteriorated
Chinese hand grenades and was en route to Waco with them
in his personal vehicle. The individual contacted 9-1-1 and
