*In FY 2015, a single residential fire accounted for an estimated $13,000,000 in property loss
*One single fire in North Arlington represented the majority of fire loss for Fiscal 2015. The nature
of construction of this building represented significant risks to firefighters as fire traveled through
inaccessible void spaces not typically encountered in residential fires. Firefighters worked tirelessly
to save the resident’s valuables and other items while Fire Commanders ensured firefighter safety
during dangerous salvage operations. If not for this single fire, the fire loss in 2015 would have
been comparable to 2011 fire loss numbers.
