We hold this truth to be self-evident: That all men are created equal.1 In support of that truth,
The Arc Maryland advocates for the rights of Persons with Intellectual and Developmental
Disabilities. Further, we believe the State of Maryland has specific obligations to uphold the
rights of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). We thank the United
Nations for clearly and expansively defining these rights, which we have modified and adopted
here.
