Office of Emergency Management The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is responsible for coordinating public safety response operations as well as protecting lives, property, and the environment by mitigating, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from natural and man-made disasters. Normal duties for OEM staff include conducting monthly outdoor warning siren tests, maintaining the operational readiness of the Arlington Fire Department’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), mentoring newly promoted Fire Department personnel on OEM roles and responsibilities, updating Arlington Emergency Management Plans, monitoring for severe weather events impacting the City, conducting training classes for our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) citizen volunteers, coordinating volunteer management through the Arlington Faith Based Organizations (FBO), facilitating response training and exercises for public safety, fulfilling citizen requests for public education preparedness presentations to civic groups in Arlington, and participating in numerous regional, state and national committees for public safety planning and response activities, as well as Homeland Security grant management and administration. IRISH HANCOCK Fire Training The Fire Training Section is responsible for ensuring the professional development and competence of all emergency responders in the Arlington Fire Department. JOE MORRIS The Training Section is staffed by one Battalion Chief, one Captain, two Lieutenants, a media technician, and an office assistant. The Training staff are responsible for course design, development and delivery of the many training classes we offer. The Department’s training needs are divided with three primary target audiences in mind: Development of Current Arlington Fire Fighters Basic Training of New Fire Recruits Basic Training of High School Students Enrolled in AISD Fire Academy DUTY / HONOR Working Together to Make Arlington Better. / COMPASSION 18 / EXCELLENCE
