The Medical Operations section is led by a Battalion Chief, with direct support from the EMS Lieutenant and three EMS Coordinators. Medical Operations personnel are responsible for coordinating with the City‘ s Medical Director, Dr. Cynthia Simmons, and the Emergency Physicians Advisory Board. This specialized team is responsible for monitoring the ambulance contractor‘ s performance, providing continuing education training for Fire Department EMT-I‘ s and Paramedics, conducting CPR training for the public and City employees, managing over 270 public access automatic external defibrillators( AEDs), auditing emergency medical treatments provided by Arlington Fire Department, and developing standard operating procedures and treatment protocols.
