The Swift Water Rescue / Dive Team is responsible for responding to any water-related incident in the City. They conduct swift water rescues, Search and Rescue( SAR) dives, dive recoveries, and assistance to stranded boaters. The SWRDT also conducts vessel safety checks at Lake Arlington and pool safety programs for the community. The SWRDT supported Super Bowl through diligent preplanning of the Entertainment District that surrounds Cowboys Stadium, in the event of a water rescue.
The Technical Rescue Team is trained to respond to emergencies involving persons trapped in challenging environments. They are equipped to handle rescues from heights requiring advanced rope systems, rescue of workers trapped by trench collapses, rescues of persons trapped in confined spaces, and persons trapped beneath a structural collapse. TRT is also responsible for Search and Rescue missions of lost persons not on or in the water. The TRT was instrumental in Super Bowl operations when snow and ice built up on the roof of Cowboys Stadium the week of the Super Bowl; the snow and ice were a threat to life safety as it fell from the roof. TRT used rope systems on the roof to assist in the removal of the snow and ice.
The Special Operations Section is managed by a Battalion Chief and is supported by a Program Manager at each Spec Ops fire station.
