The Fire Department‘s Command Staff is responsible for the leadership and management of all
Fire Department emergency and non-emergency services, including the 911/Dispatch Center, the
Office of Emergency Management, and the City‘s private ambulance service. The Department is
organized into three functional divisions: Fire Rescue, Fire Administration, and Fire Rescue
Support.

AFD’s Operational Model
The Arlington Fire Department is a ―Constant Staffed‖ organization – meaning that
there must be a minimum number of firefighters, 9-1-1 call takers/dispatchers, and
ambulances on duty at all times to provide a consistent level of service 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

One of AFD‘s operational goals is to provide
equalized service coverage to all parts of our City, all the time.
