Newsletter Title Page 22 The Arlington Fire Department was presented the Public Information/Injury Prevention Award at the 2011 Texas EMS Conference in Austin. This award ―honors an EMS group or individual for outstanding achievement in public education or injury prevention.‖ The award was given to the Arlington Fire Department for its CPaRlington program, which had an original goal to train 10 percent of our population in CPR. With our original goal exceeded, the program is now focusing on informing the public that CPR has changed with the creation of our Public Service Announcement (PSA). The PSA emphasizes that ―hands only‖ CPR with no rescue breathing can save a life. BY-Stander CPR Works! Citizens, along with Arlington Fire Department members, AMR medics, and Police Officers were recognized at the Ballpark in September 2011. Multiple CPR saves throughout the year helped drive the Cardiac Survival Rate in Arlington to new highs. Working Together to Make Arlington Better. 22
