OUR PROGRAMS Agency Feeding Network: NTFB works closely with more than 200 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other facilities to ensure that we get nutritious food and social services to those who need it. Child Programs: We work with schools and social service programs in our 13-county service area to distribute and serve nutritious foods to kids in need throughout the school year and the summer months. Mobile Pantry: This market on wheels brings fresh produce and other healthy foods to areas of high-need including rural and urban locations across our 13-county service area. The sad reality is that one in four kids in North Texas live in a food insecure household. Mobile Pantry Program Expands Services With more fresh produce available last year, the North Texas Food Bank expanded the Mobile Pantry Program, bringing food distribution sites to the hard-to-reach places that need it the most. Our Mobile Pantry trucks currently serve an estimated 9,000 families per year, operating at 52 sites across six North Texas counties – with plans to expand to all 13 counties in the coming year. Disaster Relief: Through the Mass Care Task Force, NTFB helps respond to the needs of area neighbors following a major disaster. NTFB Responds to Hurricane Harvey Hurricane Harvey resulted in mass devastation to the Texas Coast and unprecedented flooding in the Houston area. As a member of the Mass Care Task Force (MCTF), the North Texas Food Bank provided food and beverages to evacuees and supported the transportation and storage of other critical resources. Overall, NTFB provided more than 120,000 pounds of food to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey and were also able to provide Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for 500 families impacted by the disaster. NTFB provided ready to eat foods, snacks and beverages to Hurricane Harvey evacuees housed at local shelters in addition to helping evacuees apply for Disaster SNAP benefits to receive food assistance.
