Globe Life Field Opens , Draws Series of High-Profile Events
Though delayed nearly four months because of the coronavirus pandemic , the City of Arlington and Texas Rangers
celebrated the opening of the $ 1.2-billion retractable roof ballpark for the first Rangers ’ inaugural season in July 2020 . It wasn ’ t long until a number of high-profile events were announced for the 40,000-seat , climate-controlled venue . These events , which help further the City ’ s reputation as a national leader in cultural arts , innovation , sports and entertainment , included the
2020 World Series ,
2020 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo ,
Luminova Holidays , and the
Lockheed Martin Commanders ’ Classic in 2021 and 2022 .
National Medal of Honor Museum Moves Closer to Reality
The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation announced in October 2019 that Arlington has been selected after a yearlong national search as the site for the future National Medal of Honor Museum . Planned for construction near Arlington ’ s Globe Life Park and AT & T Stadium , the first national museum of its kind is set to open to the public in 2024 .
The museum will have state-of-theart permanent , interactive experiences , rotating exhibitions and an education center aimed at character development in our nation ’ s youth . The museum ’ s foundation unveiled the first architectural rendering for the museum in 2020 , made possible by a $ 3.5-million legacy gift from the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation .
