Letter Log September 2019 30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W Rear Commodore's Report If you missed FWYC Movie Night on August 3 and Karaoke night on August 9, you missed some good times! For movie night, the crowd warmed up with the family-friendly "Captain Ron" and closed out the evening with "Wind." Many thanks to Tommy and the team -- the pizza bar and caramel popcorn were big hits. ...and Karaoke night?? It was IN-SANELY fun! We had a professional Karaoke team, Tim and Rusty Morinelli, come in and run the show. They brought a music library of well over 10,000 songs. We heard members sing songs from every genre and time period...from Frank Sinatra to Bruno Mars to the Pointer Sisters. My personal favorite was "Soul Man." All the men in the room sang it Blues Brothers-style while sporting cool shades! Special thanks to the bar staff - the drink special of the evening, "Liquid Courage" was popular and definitely help a few folks get over their stage fright. If you didn't make it out for the event, be sure to check out the pictures/videos on FWYC's page on Facebook. Many thanks to CeCe Stoldt and several other members for capturing the event. Looking forward to this month's Labor Day Potluck on Monday, September 2. We'll have lawn games and competitions for best BBQ Ribs and dessert. Also, Rob Romans is coming back for another great evening of music in the lounge on Friday, September 13. Rob's bringing his voice, guitar and a great repertoire of cross-genre songs from the 60's to today's classics. Coming in October is our annual Halloween Party on Saturday, October 26. We're flashing back to the '80's. Break out your legwarmers and shoulder-padded suits, we're going to do it up, Dallas-style and dance the night away with music from Flash Flood. Jackie Chapman is taking the lead on the party. We'll have planning meetings starting mid-September. If you're interested in participating, let Jackie or me know. More party information to follow! See you around the club!! Cheers, Gina Rear Commodore, 2019 5
