Letter Log September 2019 30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W Membership Committee Report Fort Walton Yacht Club has had a very productive summer! It’s great seeing so many new faces at the club and new applications for membership on the bulletin board. With the launching of the new menu, we have seen a considerable increase in the dining room and lounge revenues of the club. The beaches have been packed with swimmers and small boaters, regattas are in full sail and there has been an increase in party attendance. It’s great to be a member of FWYC. At the beginning of 2019, we had 297 full dues paying members. That number is now up to 316 as of our August Board of Directors meeting. August saw a record number of applications. Thanks to all the members who have entertained, encouraged and recruited potential members to join FWYC. These new members continue to reflect a positive attitude toward all aspects of our club! The ECSA Summer Sailing Lessons helped to increase our membership in Regular members, Trial Members, and in Junior Associate Members. For the eight weeks of lessons on Mondays and Fridays, Membership Committee members provided information about FWYC membership and its advantages. Since we now have a full-time sailing director, many parents/kids are taken advantage of the after sailing lessons activities such as Learn to Race and Adult Sailing Lessons. It’s SURVEY TIME! The 2019 Survey period is from August 29 to September 19. All members who have emails with the club will be sent out a link to Survey Monkey. Those who do not have an email address or prefer not to use Survey Monkey may pick up a paper survey in the office. All surveys must be completed by September 19. Please let us know what’s working at FWYC and what needs improvement. Another way all during the year that you can let the Commodore know what you like and what you find needs improvement is with our FWYC Comment Cards. The Comment Box has been moved to the east end of the Bulleting Board in the hallway. Only the Commodore has a key to the box. 14
