Commodore’s Comments
t has been some time since I reported on the status of our club and I feel the membership should be updated. The
finance committee reports that our club is doing well. We have had a slight increase in our membership. If we wish
our club to grow we must offer a value for being a member. We can provide value by being a place where everyone
feels welcome and offering a variety of services that provide enjoyment. With this in mind the effort to enhance the
overall appearance of our club continues. A big thank you goes to PC Bill Bushelle for replacing that ugly old wood
box with a much nicer dinghy. Thank you goes to our clubs FCA for the new signs that identify our rooms for those
less familiar with our club. The new dishes for our dining room have been ordered. The staff is pleased and looking
forward to their arrival. This will allow our club to have consistence of food presentation. It was becoming difficult to
offer with the mixed sets we have. As a member myself I wish to see our club continue to grow and prosper. That is
why I have chosen to run for a second year as Commodore. Time has gone by so fast this year that we have not been
able to accomplish all I would have liked. Plans for work to be done include cleaning out the flower bed along the
front wall and under the anchor. White rock will be used in those areas to match the work already completed. The
revised menu is about ready to be published. That is a few of the items we wish to complete. The Commodores’ Ball
is Oct. 7th I look forward to seeing you there.

From the Office
his month we have a lot of things happening at the
club. First, let’s get the events out of the way!! We
start the first weekend with the kick-off of college foot-
ball. The RC has planned a p ot luck in the Lounge on the
2nd in conjunction with the FSU-Alabama game. Come
on down and enjoy the games on opening weekend.
On the 4th (Labor Day) the Lounge will open at 3pm.
Come see the bar staff and grab a cold drink. We will be
offering bucket specials on some beer and margarita spe-
cials that day. On the 9th we have a booked evening for a
private wedding reception. The 14th we are scheduled to
host the Chamber’s Nothing But Networking luncheon,
followed that evening with our new Pasta Bar dinner that
will be the 2nd Thursday of every month (regular menu
not available). Advertising will be out on this. The 15th
we will have guests from Troy University here along with
our normal Friday night dinner. There will be quite a few
of them so please be patient that evening as I am under-
standing upwards of 80 will be dining just with the Troy
group. On the 23rd we will have Mongolian BBQ again
for the membership. We will not serve grill that day in
lieu of the BBQ. The Rear Commodore will have
advertisement out on this as well. Finally, we fin-
5
ish up on the 28th with a private dinner for the Air Force
Association.
As you can see we have a lot of happenings this month,
besides our normal happenings. Very nice to see.
Also, this month you should expect to see a new updated
menu. Date of release TBD, but it will come. We hope
you like the new items added. We will also be adding
a beer and wine special from 7:30-9:30 pm on Friday
nights. Hopefully, we will see more of you stick around
after the drawing to utilize these special prices. On Taco
Tuesday, we will also offer a $4 margarita special to go
along with the Tacos.
We are aware of the fallen floor out at the Gazebo. It is
going to take a little time to figure out the best plan of at-
tack on fixing that problem. Please be careful down there
in the meantime as it can be a tripping hazard.
I hope you all have a wonderful start to the Fall, and I
hope to see you all at the club.
