30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W September 2019 Letter Log From The Office Things continue to trend in a positive direction. The club has made a profit nine months in a row, we have met the requirements to transfer monies into the various funds and accrual accounts and we have had money to make the necessary repairs to the club. Membership continues to grow, and club utilization is at a five-year high. There are eleven 2nd reads and two trial members on slate for the board to approve and three first reads. We are receiving calls and visits from potential new members every day. The increase in dues goes straight to the bottom line of the club and has a significant impact on the financial health of the club. We have a lot of events on the books for the remainder of the year including; three weddings, two class reunions, Community Bank’s Grand Opening Celebration, six holiday parties, the annual eggnog party, the army Navy game, a WNFR Crew Appreciation Party and the Commodore’s Ball. It will be fun and exciting around the club and your staff is going to be working hard to make each event a success for our guest and for the club. We have monitored our 501(c) Safe Haven position throughout the year and have plenty of cushion to support this injection of income from non-member revenues. We have determined that the boardwalk along the bayside of dry storage needs to be rebuilt, but we do not have enough funds in the capital improvement account to cover both the walk-cooler replacement and the boardwalk replacement. These items are outside of the ongoing repairs and replacement mentioned above. We will be placing caution tape over the walkway until repairs can be completed. The goal is to have the repairs completed before the Flying Scot midwinters next March. We would like to remind all members that house rules strictly forbid members and their guest from reprimanding any Club employee. Complaints are to be reported to the Club Manager, the House Committee Chair or to a Flag Officer. All complaints will be addressed in a timely manner. Stay positive, have fun and thank you for your assistance in making Fort Walton Yacht Club a great place for everyone to enjoy. See you around the club! 7
