Commodore's Report
Happy November
It’s hard to believe that the year end is fast approaching, but here we
are at the last 2 months. These will be busy times with lots of events
and opportunities to be involved with at the club. There will be a
Veteran’s Day Sundowner flag ceremony on Nov 8, an Orphan’s
Thanksgiving meal on Nov 28, and in December the Egg Nog Party
(15 th ) and the Commodore’s Ball (31 st ). Scattered around these will
be decorating activities and various sailing events.
With all of this, it is hoped that people attend those that appeal to
them and enjoy their time. Saying that, I am noticing a decline in
common courtesy during activities. When people are speaking,
whether at a podium, on the patio for awards, for the Friday drawings
or other events, there those that don’t seem to want to stop talking
for 5 minutes to let others hear what is being said. This also extends
to the children in the club. I love seeing the kids taking part in the
activities, but let’s recognize the environment they are in (an adult
lounge & dining area) and ensure they are taught that running,
screaming, and using club furniture and display items as toys etc. are
actions that are not acceptable. I am not one for draconian rules to
govern every facet of personal activity. However, I do believe that
courtesy to others, during what is a small percentage of your time at
the club, should be practiced by all.
Thank you,
Craig
