T Membership Surveys hanks again to everyone who filled out the 2017 Survey! We had the best response ever. Deborah Wilusz won the $100 club credit. She intends to donate it to the Junior Program. Thanks, Deborah! A copy of the survey report is on the bulletin board. Below is a summary of the highlights. The 2017 survey was compared to the 2015, since there was such a poor response in 2016. Question 1 - How long have you been a member of FWYC? • Less than 1 year 14.4%, in 2015 it was 6%. We are definitely getting new members. • Over 10 years, was down 9.1%, indicating that work needs to be done to keep more of our existing members. Question 2 - What is your age? • Our younger aged members are still the lowest groups, but increasing. The groups between 50 and 69 years of age were about the same. The groups 70 to 80+ years were down 9.3%. Question 3 - What are the ages of your children/grandchildren that participate at FWYC? • 71% of members had NO children/grandchildren who participate, but that’s down from 88% in 2015. We are headed in the right direction. Question 4 - What is your drive time to FWYC? • The largest group 31.3%, was 11 to 20 minutes; 5 to 10 minutes was 23.7%; less than 5 minutes was 19.9%. Question 5 - What is your primary reason for being a member of FWYC? • Social 19.2%, down from 45% in 2015 • Wet/Dry Slips 21.2%, up from 16% in 2015 • Boating Activities 38.5%, up from 32% in 2015 • Other was 3.4%, about the same as 2015 • Youth Activities .5%, down from 1% • Private Restaurant/Lounge 17.3%, up from 4% in 2015 Question 6 - Rank your preferred method of communication to learn about FWYC events. • Weekly newsletter email was the most preferred, followed by the monthly Letter Log, then daily emails. Question 7 - Would you be in favor of hiring an FWYC Seasonal Waterfront Director for assistance with water activities? • 73.4% of members chose YES. Question 8 - If available, would you utilize secure online viewing and paying of FWYC bills? • 64.2% of members chose YES. Question 9 - The top suggestions from past surveys are listed below. How satisfied are you with the improvements? • Increase younger members, 56.6% • Add daily fresh seafood, 81.8% • Increase food service hours, 66% • Add sailing lessons, 62.6% • Expand menu options, 72.5% • Increase youth activities, 56% • Add healthier menu options, 64.9% • Improve employee dress, 63.7% Question 10 - How satisfied are you with the quality and value you receive from FWYC? • Overall FWYC value, 68.7% • Lounge, 72.1% • Wet slips, 88.3% • Dining Room, 69.6% • Dry slips, 79.8% • Menu, 66.2% Question 11 - How satisfied are you with the appearance in the following areas? • Pavilions, 46.8% • Outdoor Restrooms, 51.1% • Patio, 53.9% • Parking Areas, 55.0% • Dry Slips, 55.6% • Lawn, 56.6% • Wet slips, 79.5% • Commodore’s Room, 79.1% The comments from the survey are being compiled. There were 456 comments being organized into areas so that the Flag Officers and Board members will be able to see what the members’ interests, suggestions, and grumbles were.
