Membership Happenings

With Board approval at the May Board of Directors meeting, our Young Adult category will take a new direction.

This change, rather than trying to keep members to age 25, provides young adults through age 35 a transition to Regular Membership in FWYC. The steps for this age driven category grants these members an affordable avenue to become full Regular Members. This category has worked well at the Pensacola Yacht Club for over 25 years and has provided PYC with a steady stream of young people who become Active( Regular) Members. This change has come about through over a year and a half of research, contacting yacht clubs and finding a plan that should work at FWYC. The bylaw change to this category is posted on the bulletin board in the glass case. Please take a look at it and let your Board members know if you support this initiative. In addition, please email the membership committee( membership @ fwyc. org) is you have any questions about this change. We will be happy to answer questions or entertain any comments.
We are all getting excited about the Family Fun Day and Blessing of the Fleet on Saturday, 20 May. There will be fun for any age, especially children. Please bring your friends, coworkers, neighbors, etc. This is a community event and we hope to showcase our club to people who are not members. If you haven’ t been contacted about volunteering for this event, please email Shari Seaton, the FCA coordinator at ssseaton @ cox. net or membership @ fwyc. org. We need YOU!
The new Menu has been very well received. Eric is going to tweak some things that members have wanted and did not see in the menu. A revised edition will be out shortly. As we often mention, this initiative came about because members requested it on our survey. Now that we have a more inclusive menu, we all need to support this effort. If we keep eating the same thing on the same days, then we are no better off. Branch out, try some new things on different days or evenings!
With warmer weather here, we are signing up more new members. One reminder about timing: Applications for Seasonal and Reinstatements need to be into the office 2 weeks prior to the next Board Meeting because those

6 require only one reading or voting by the Board. All other categories, Friday before Board meeting will offer sufficient time because they require two Board readings.
