FWYC Letter Log May 2014 | Page 15

Page 15 The FWYC Chapter of the Florida Commodores Association We would like to thank all those who participated in the Blessing of the Fleet on 12 April. Thirteen boats passed by the T-dock as Reverend David Luckett (Headmaster and Rector of All Saints Episcopal School, Vicksburg, MS: retired) officiated. If you witnessed this event but didn’t join in on your boat, please consider doing it next year. One of the things that the FCA has done in the past and continues to do every year is contribute something of need or value to our club. This year our contribution will be new entry lights on the wall next to the new gate. So when the new gate is installed, take a minute to observe the lights. Then, when you meet up with a member of the FCA, give out a shout of thanks. As you read this, many FCA members will have returned from the State FCA meeting at the Sarasota YC. There is always interesting and motivating items on the agenda. We’ll share items discussed and news that may impact our Commodores Association next month. In keeping with our “do you know this feature”... do you know this Yacht Club? The FCA will buy a drink for the first person that emails me the correct answer. (Tom Reynolds: [email protected]). Congratulations to Craig Stoldt who got last month's lighthouse (Cape San Blas). To start this year’s Memorial Day Weekend off, the FCA will conduct a Sundowner Ceremony on Friday, 23 May at 1800 hrs., 6:00 p.m. All club members and guests are invited to this patriotic ceremony. Our next luncheon meeting is Tuesday, May 6 at noon in the Commodores Room at the club. Thanks to all who continually support our club.
