Letter Log March 2019 30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W From The Office We had a couple of events last month that proved to be very successful. The Sip & Swirl after dinner wine tasting event was very well attended and has led to an increase in the number of people seeking reinstatement or looking at joining the Club. The prime rib special we ran last week was also well attended and the smoked prime rib was truly delicious. We will continue to look at new specials for you, our members. Next up will be a lamb chop dinner, since everyone enjoyed the lamb lollipops at last year’s Egg Nog party. On Fat Tuesday, we will be offering Chicken & Sausage Gumbo, Roast Beef Po-Boys, and Muffulettas. Danielle will also be making Hurricane’s and other special Mardi Gras drinks. The Club has entered the Gumbo Throwdown at First City Bank on Thursday the 7th. We need everyone to come down to support our club staff and help the fine folks at Fresh Start. We will be featuring our award-winning Seafood Gumbo. We would appreciate your vote so that we can get the club some great publicity if we win. We have the West Point Founders Day dinner on the 16th and we know many of you will enjoy celebrating this great establishment. We also have several parties booked for several of our members and will be hosting a wedding and rehearsal dinner later in the month. When the J22 midwinters are going on, we will be preparing a low country boil on Friday the 15th. Members are welcome to sign up and to sit down and meet a great bunch of sailors that will be here visiting our great club. While the FEVA Midwinters are going on, we will be preparing a pasta bar with all your Italian favorites. Members are also invited to join us for dinner that Saturday night. If the dinner is well attended by our membership, we promise to look to having more special dinners on Saturday nights. For those of you that usually go out on weekends, this is your chance to show that you would like to see more Saturday night serve ice in the dining room. In closing, we have decided to dress the dining room up a little on Wednesday nights. You will notice that we now offer linens on the tables on Wednesday. There is no reason that the club doesn’t look as nice as Friday night, since you are ordering from the same menu. We are hopeful that you like this improvement for the dining room. You may also notice that we have had all the chairs in the building cleaned and they do look nice. Thanks, and hope to see you soon. 7
