Letter Log March 2019 30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W Vice Commodore's Report We are off to one heck of a start for 2019! Our committees are in full swing and if you would like to volunteer or if you have any suggestions please contact a chairperson, committee member, or me. We are always looking for the best way to move forward! One of our missions this year is for our Planning Committee to look forward past the 5-Year Plan. It is time for us to move ahead, look into our future, and begin planning for new opportunities. Our committee members are: Chairman, Phyllis Seaton, Scott Mitchell, Bobby Nabors, and Cece Stoldt. I am expecting great things out of this group. Exterior painting of the main building and Junior Room are being held up by the discovery of rotten wood and weather conditions. The formidable team of Jennifer Grant & Steven Mee have continued to not be derailed by either of these intruders trying to encroach on their progress or enthusiasm. Thank you so much to our team of painters Jennifer, Steven and everyone who is joining in! Hoist replacement will begin as soon as possible given the contractors schedule. Parts are on order for stainless steel components with the contractor as well as Ron Hankins for replacement of a flange that was damaged during the fall. Ron Hankins has verified that the old motors are electrically sound, however, the controls will need to be replaced. Our maintenance man, Mike, has cleared the area for one of the concrete footings and there may be need for additional concrete and/or steel plates used for installation. The remaining concrete footings, with minimal rework, should be adequate for our needs with the new hoist. Update of the documentation used for our wet slips and dry storage has begun to align with our Hurricane Committee’s goals. A request for a by-law change concerning Wet Slip and Dry Storage is available on the bulletin board. Please read the document and provide the Flag Officers or Board of Directors with any suggestions or concerns you may have with the proposed changes. See you around the club, Vice Commodore Shari Seaton 4
