Commodore's Corner
The Fort Walton Yacht Club has entered into a three-way
agreement with ECSA and Northwest Florida State College to
hire a Waterfront Director. This will ensure that the college
will have someone to help kick off a sailing team and FWYC
and ECSA will have boats maintained, a year-round sailing
instructor for lessons for all ages and other waterfront activities
planned for all. Candidates were interviewed and the offer was
made to our own Paul Beaudry. Give him a hearty
congratulations when you see him out there teaching or
maintaining the boats.
Speaking of one of our own, be sure to congratulate George
Goodall for his receiving the Al Byrne at the All Sports
Association banquet. (see a related article elsewhere in the LL).
Also, we have a host of new members, lets all reach out and
welcome them aboard. March will have opportunities to
volunteer in various ways for 2 regattas and various projects
around the club. AND, we still need a volunteer for the
Hurricane Preparedness Committee chair position. This does
not have to be a boater, just someone who can keep a team
organized.
