THERE IS A SPECIAL TREAT in store for our membership on Friday, 17 August. Chef Fran-
cesca has graciously agreed to be the guest chef that evening. She will be presenting an
Italian culinary delight for the Friday night dinner. Plus, to cap off the evening, Something
Fishy will be playing in the Lounge for relaxation, enjoyment and dancing.
FWYC is extremely blessed to have a host of willing volunteers to help with all aspects of
the Club from running races to watering flowers, to helping with needs around the club. I
would like to especially thank Charles and Jan Hine this month for their time and exper-
tise for over a weeklong period of repairing our sprinkler system, especially in this heat.
There remain some kinks, but most of the system is working and our grass should begin
looking alive and green very shortly. Thank you, Charles and Jan!
It’s hard to believe that summer activities are ending. ECSA has had a very successful sail-
ing camp series this summer under a new format. I was honored each week to welcome
new campers to our Club and participate in the award ceremonies. We’ve gained some
new members and some new youth sailors who are excited to be a part of our Club. Much
of the ECSA funding for scholarships, boat repair, etc. is donated by the Mary Esther Bin-
go. ECSA is hosting a Bingo Night on August 7, where the ECSA Board will assist with the
bingo. If you like to play Bingo, or just want to support ECSA, please come out. See more
information in the issue of the Letter Log.
As most of you know, our General Manager Eric Mattiza is no longer with us. We all wish
Eric success in the future and are grateful for his service at FWYC. Change is always hard
and as we transition through this period of change, I hope that you will remain patient as
our staff strives to provide the best possible experience at our Club. A search committee
has been formed to find the best candidate for this position.
