like to recognize my race committee for WetaFest
I would
The WetaFest Regatta held 27-30 April was a huge success thanks to all of the exceptional volunteers who assisted me in or-
ganizing the regatta and who stepped up to run eight races over two days. When we needed to make short-notice adjustments
to the racing schedule due to excessive wind forecast for the last day, everyone was quick to adjust their plans and provide the
support we needed to start buoy racing a day early.
Big thanks to Jim and Carolyn Williford who provided the signal boat and scoring support, Lou Richard (Principal Race
Officer), John Farris (organization and publicity), Jan and Charles Hine, Cindy Barber and Gerry Harvey (scoring) and Pam
Guthrie (scoring and mark set). Dan Gross provided his boat and helped with pin set, safety and video. Phil Pritchett teamed
up with Jerry Vaughan who also provided his boat (mark set and safety), David Sly brought his boat to provide a great platform
for CeCe Stoldt to take photos. Lisa Lethcoe (regular crew on Pelirrojas) assisted with pin set. I had the pleasure to do mark
set with Pam and pin set with Lisa. Thanks to you all!!
This was mentioned in the last letter log, but you might not have known about Carson (membership application in)
In the fleet of 18 boats, our own sailors made a very strong showing with Craig Wilusz taking second place (his first time racing
a Weta), Debra Wilusz was fourth and our newest boat owner Carson Smith (regular crew on Two Pot, also first time racing a
Weta) took seventh! Way to go!
Spring Fling - 6-13 May CeCe has some great photos and possibly something to report
On 13 May, the inaugural Thomas Memorial Regatta was held in memory of Lenny Thomas. Many of the family members
attended and the regatta was won by Lenny’s son, Dennis on Cantankerous. Patrick Thomas took some fantastic drone video
of the fleet at the start and finish.
