Letter Log July 2019 30° 25.60’N 86° 35.58’W From The Office The upsurge in new members is continuing to have a favorable impact on the financial health of the Yacht Club. Revenues are up 8% over this same period last year and are 31% ahead of budget. Cost of goods sold, and club expenses are down considerably, and the bottom line has improved significantly (327% year over year and 170% higher than budgeted). It is great to see the number of young families enjoying the club on Wednesday nights and weekends. Mike has been working hard to make sure the playground is clean, fresh looking and safe for the kids. It looks nice down there. If you see him, tell how much you appreciate his efforts to keep the grounds looking so nice and clean. We are pleased to announce our new menu. We believe that the new menu will give members a fresh choice of new offerings. While the menu has some price increases, it still offers a great value to the members and offers a wide range of choices. Some significant changes to the menu center around operations of the food and beverage side of the club. The dining room will have a special menu that will only be available in the dining room and the lounge will have more of a pub menu. We are hopeful that this will disperse members throughout the club allowing for better service for everyone. Salads will always be available as well as lunch items in the lounge as well. This limited menu in the lounge should help a little with staffing but more importantly with food waste and preparation. It will take us about two weeks to implement the new menu as we will have to reprogram the point of sale and train the staff on the new recipes, so we should be ready to roll it out the first week in July. In preparation of the new menu and analyzing drink prices, we discovered that many items in the lounge just are not priced properly. We will be adjusting prices and holding any increases to a minimum. When comparing our prices to other venues, please keep in mind that most drinks are served with a two ounce pour verses a one ounce elsewhere and our wines have a five ounce pour verses four ounces at most locations. July 9th, we will be hosting a Cherry Wealth Advisors seminar for our members. Cherry Wealthy Advisors will provide a free dinner and present a financial planning seminar. Several of our members are already invested with Cherry Wealth Advisors. We will provide a nice dinner, and this gets you a good look at current retirement products as you head into or evaluate your retirement. We have AED CPR training currently ongoing with the staff. Naomi Brown will certify most of our employees Thursday afternoon and we will be better prepared in case a member suffers cardiac arrest or has a heart attack. We had to order a new air curtain for the kitchen as the old one died, and we currently have parts on order to repair the hood vents in the kitchen. See you around the club! 7
